Ansel Adams had a hard life growing up. He had a hard time fitting in at school and was not a very got student. He never got the proper schooling he should have received. He taught himself to play he piano when he was twelve and continued that into his early adult life. Most of his pictures were taken out in nature of the places he lived. He worked with a number of photographers, and in 1927. He spent summers photographing Sierra Nevada. Ansel Adams still had a lot of financial trouble. Around 1935 he started doing commercial work to make money. He would work for 18 hours plus a day. Every day.
I chose this picture of his because I love how some of the trees are really dark and some are white. All the different shades of grey and black make the picture really interesting to look at. I also like that you can see all the reflections on the water. Its a really calm picture and setting, but all of the different shades make it really interesting.
